Zardari reviews national security, economy with ministers

President Asif Ali Zardari convened a high-level meeting at Bhutto House, Naudero, with top ministers to review national security and the economic roadmap. Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb, and Petroleum Minister Ali Pervaiz Malik provided updates on their respective portfolios.

The meeting was attended by PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, PPP Women Wing Central President Faryal Talpur, and Sindh Minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah. The session focused on anti-terror operations, border security, and broader regional challenges, including Pak-Afghan tensions.

Minister Naqvi briefed the president on ongoing security operations and the status of border management. The review also covered regional security threats, potential destabilizing factors, and coordination with law enforcement agencies to ensure stability across the country.

Finance Minister Aurangzeb and Petroleum Minister Malik provided updates on economic performance, energy sector reforms, and government strategies to manage rising global fuel prices. The discussion highlighted measures to mitigate inflationary pressures on citizens and sustain economic growth amid global uncertainties.

President Zardari instructed the federal team to ensure economic policies prioritize public relief, especially in the energy sector. He emphasized minimizing the burden of petroleum price hikes to protect ordinary citizens from the impact of inflation, while maintaining fiscal and energy sector reforms.
