Steven Spielberg opened up about working with Tom Cruise, sharing insights into the actor’s unique habits and extraordinary commitment.
Speaking at a keynote during the SXSW Festival in Austin, Texas, the legendary director reflected on directing Cruise in Minority Report and War of the Worlds.
Spielberg revealed that Cruise would arrive on set before the crew each day and insist on mapping out the entire shoot with him before cameras rolled.
“Tom Cruise showed up every morning when I showed up,” Spielberg said. “I get to the set sometimes at 6:30 in the morning and on Minority Report and War of the Worlds, Tom would insist on being there too so we could map out the whole day, which was really helpful for me.”
The director described the process as deeply collaborative, praising Cruise’s drive to perfect his craft. Known for performing his own stunts and learning new skills for each role, Cruise has established a reputation as one of Hollywood’s most dedicated stars.
