Ishaq Dar, Iraqi counterpart discuss regional situation

ISLAMABAD — Ishaq Dar held a telephonic conversation with his Iraqi counterpart Fuad Hussein to discuss the evolving regional situation and rising tensions across the Middle East.

During the call, both leaders expressed deep concern over the ongoing escalation and its potential impact on regional and global stability. They acknowledged that continued conflict could have far-reaching consequences, not only for the countries directly involved but also for broader international peace and security.

Ishaq Dar emphasized the urgent need for collective and coordinated efforts to de-escalate tensions. He stressed that diplomacy, dialogue and adherence to international law must remain central to resolving disputes and preventing further instability. According to officials, he highlighted that sustainable peace can only be achieved through constructive engagement and mutual understanding among nations.

Fuad Hussein shared similar concerns, underlining the importance of cooperation between regional countries to avoid further deterioration of the situation. Both sides agreed that maintaining open communication channels and supporting diplomatic initiatives would be key in navigating the current challenges.

The conversation also reflected the shared interest of Pakistan and Iraq in promoting stability in the region, particularly at a time when geopolitical tensions have intensified. The leaders reaffirmed their commitment to working together on diplomatic platforms to support peaceful solutions.

In addition to discussing the regional crisis, the two ministers exchanged warm greetings on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr, highlighting the spirit of goodwill and cooperation between the two countries.
