PSL owners urge fans back into stadiums

Pakistan Super League franchise owners have urged Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to allow spectators back into stadiums. They said empty stands have diminished the tournament’s spirit and fan excitement. Owners emphasized that public support is vital for the league’s energy and unity.

Karachi Kings owner Salman Iqbal expressed distress over the sight of vacant stadiums. Posting on X, he highlighted his long association with PSL since its inception. Iqbal appealed to the prime minister to restore full crowd capacity, stating that matches thrive on supporter enthusiasm.

As founding team owner who has been part of PSL since day one, it pains me to see empty stadiums.

Hyderabad Kingsmen owner Fawad Sarwar echoed these concerns, noting the absence of fans during his team’s opening fixture. He emphasized that supporters bring energy and passion to the game. Sarwar urged authorities to readmit spectators to restore the tournament’s vibrant atmosphere.

Peshawar Zalmi owner Javed Afridi described PSL as a unifying force and a national celebration for millions. He said the spirit of the league feels diminished without fans present. Afridi requested that crowds be allowed, noting their presence is crucial for both the experience and morale of players.

Owners collectively stressed that spectator involvement strengthens the league’s identity and connection with fans. They hope that government approval will bring stadiums back to full capacity soon, reviving the excitement of Pakistan’s premier cricket competition.
