Ishaq Dar set for official China visit tomorrow: FO

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar will visit China on March 31 for official talks. The visit underscores Pakistan’s priority to strengthen ties with China amid regional tensions. It affects diplomatic coordination on global issues and ongoing mediation efforts involving key international actors.

The Foreign Office said Dar will travel at the invitation of Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi. Both countries maintain an all-weather strategic cooperative partnership with close coordination on global and regional matters. Officials expect in-depth discussions on bilateral relations, regional developments, and shared international concerns during the visit.

Despite medical advice to rest after a minor shoulder fracture, Dar chose to proceed with the trip. The decision highlights Pakistan’s commitment to its relationship with China. Additionally, both sides aim to reinforce diplomatic engagement through regular consultations and high-level exchanges.

Earlier, Dar and Wang Yi discussed regional tensions and global developments during a telephone call. They agreed to promote ceasefire efforts, resume peace talks, and ensure safety of key waterways. China also supported Pakistan’s mediation role in ongoing indirect talks between the United States and Iran.

Meanwhile, Pakistan continues facilitating dialogue between Washington and Tehran with support from regional partners. Officials confirmed that indirect exchanges remain active through structured communication channels. The visit is expected to further align diplomatic efforts for stability and conflict resolution.
