Ishaq Dar, Iranian Foreign Minister discuss tensions in phone call

Published on: April 5, 2026 10:33 AM

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar held a telephone conversation with Seyed Abbas Araghchi to discuss the evolving regional situation and growing geopolitical tensions. During the call, the two leaders exchanged views on recent developments and emphasized the importance of maintaining diplomatic engagement to prevent further instability across the region.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the discussion focused on rapidly changing security dynamics in the Middle East and their potential regional implications. Officials stated that both sides reviewed the current situation and highlighted the need for responsible diplomacy. The conversation also reflected growing concerns about escalation and the broader impact of ongoing tensions on regional peace and stability.

During the exchange, Ishaq Dar reiterated Pakistan’s consistent position supporting all international and regional efforts aimed at reducing tensions through peaceful means. He stressed that dialogue and diplomatic engagement remain the most effective ways to resolve disputes. Pakistani officials emphasized that avoiding further confrontation is essential to protect regional security and prevent the conflict from expanding.

Meanwhile, both foreign ministers agreed to remain in close contact as the situation continues to evolve. They discussed the importance of maintaining open communication channels between governments to facilitate timely consultations. Diplomatic coordination, they noted, can play a key role in preventing misunderstandings and supporting broader efforts aimed at de-escalating tensions across the region.

Earlier, Iran also addressed reports circulating in several Western media outlets suggesting that Tehran had declined participation in talks proposed in Islamabad. Iranian officials rejected those claims and clarified that the country had never refused such discussions. Instead, Tehran reiterated its willingness to engage diplomatically and appreciated Pakistan’s role in encouraging dialogue during the ongoing crisis.

In a statement shared on the social media platform X, Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi thanked Pakistan for its diplomatic initiatives and mediation efforts. He emphasized that Iran values constructive dialogue and remains open to negotiations aimed at easing tensions. Observers say Pakistan’s outreach reflects its continued role in promoting diplomatic solutions to regional disputes.
