PTI backs Pakistan role in US Iran talks

Published on: April 11, 2026 1:16 PM

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf praised Islamabad’s role in facilitating dialogue between the United States and Iran amid rising Middle East tensions. The development matters as it positions Pakistan as a key diplomatic player in global peace efforts. The statement affects regional stability and Pakistan’s international standing.

The party said Pakistan has emerged as a responsible global actor by promoting negotiations for a peaceful settlement. It highlighted the importance of dialogue over conflict in resolving disputes. PTI linked the approach to its founding principle of prioritising peace and diplomacy.

In a statement, PTI Central Information Secretary Sheikh Waqas Akram welcomed the government’s efforts to advance talks. He said the initiative has improved Pakistan’s global image. He also urged authorities to build on momentum to secure a lasting ceasefire in the region.

However, the party strongly criticised Israeli actions in Lebanon, calling them destabilising and unlawful. It warned such moves could undermine fragile diplomatic progress. PTI also urged Pakistan to advocate for restraint and broader inclusion in peace efforts.

The statement further called on the government to align domestic policies with its international stance. It raised concerns over the treatment of PTI founder Imran Khan, citing human rights issues. The party demanded improved conditions and access to medical care, linking credibility abroad with justice at home.
