During a parliamentary session, British Member of Parliament Muhammed Afzal commended Pakistan for playing what he described as a “leading role” in encouraging dialogue between Washington and Tehran. He emphasized that at a time of heightened tensions in the Middle East, Pakistan’s approach reflects a strong commitment to peace and stability.

Afzal also questioned the British prime minister about the United Kingdom’s role in supporting Pakistan’s diplomatic initiatives. He asked how Britain is contributing to international efforts aimed at achieving lasting peace in the region, particularly through cooperation with Pakistan.

The remarks come at a time when global attention remains focused on reducing tensions between the US and Iran. Pakistan has emerged as a potential mediator, maintaining diplomatic ties with both countries and consistently advocating dialogue over conflict.

Experts believe that the discussion in the British Parliament reflects increasing international recognition of Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts. Being acknowledged in such a forum signals confidence in Islamabad’s ability to contribute meaningfully to conflict resolution.

Analysts also note that Pakistan’s balanced foreign policy and emphasis on peaceful engagement have strengthened its position as a credible intermediary. While challenges persist, its continued involvement in diplomatic efforts is being closely monitored by the international community.
