EU, Canada praise Pakistan diplomacy role

The European Union and Canada have praised Pakistan’s role in facilitating US-Iran peace efforts during separate telephone conversations with Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar. The recognition highlights Pakistan’s growing diplomatic influence in regional conflict resolution. The development comes amid ongoing efforts to stabilize tensions between Washington and Tehran.

EU Foreign Policy Chief Kaja Kallas commended Pakistan’s constructive role in enabling direct US-Iran negotiations held in Islamabad. According to the Foreign Office, both sides stressed the importance of continued dialogue and diplomacy. They also reviewed ongoing regional developments and agreed to maintain close coordination.

In a separate call, Canadian Foreign Minister Anita Anand also appreciated Pakistan’s facilitation of dialogue between the two sides. She and Ishaq Dar discussed recent developments linked to the Islamabad talks. Both leaders agreed on the need to sustain diplomatic engagement and communication channels.

Dar reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to supporting peace efforts and emphasized the importance of adherence to ceasefire arrangements. Officials said both conversations reflected growing international engagement with Pakistan’s diplomatic role. The EU and Canada also expressed interest in strengthening broader cooperation with Islamabad.

The calls followed recent unsuccessful US-Iran negotiations that lasted over 20 hours but failed to produce an agreement. Despite the breakdown, international stakeholders continue to encourage diplomatic solutions. Pakistan has positioned itself as a facilitator in ongoing efforts to reduce regional tensions.
