Iran-US talks date still undecided

Published on: April 18, 2026 7:43 PM

High-level government sources have said that the date and schedule for Iran-US talks have not yet been finalized. Officials confirmed that negotiations were not taking place in Islamabad on Monday as previously speculated. The uncertainty highlights ongoing diplomatic delays between the two sides.

According to official sources, no final agreement has been reached on when the next round of talks will occur. They emphasized that discussions remain in the planning stage. This has raised questions over the immediate progress of diplomatic engagement.

Iranian news agency Tasnim reported that Tehran has not yet agreed to proceed with the next phase of talks. It cited concerns over recent US positions and regional military developments. The report suggested growing mistrust between both sides.

The agency added that Iran views recent US demands as excessive and a major obstacle to progress. It also pointed to statements attributed to US President Donald Trump regarding naval pressure measures. Iran has reportedly conveyed its position through Pakistani channels.

Officials say Tehran insists that negotiations can only continue if Washington avoids what it calls unrealistic demands. Otherwise, Iran is unwilling to engage in prolonged talks without results. Diplomatic efforts continue, but a clear timeline remains uncertain.
