Wasim Khan has decided to step down from his position as General Manager at the International Cricket Council after serving in the role for nearly four years.

According to reports, Khan is expected to formally relinquish his responsibilities in June, marking the end of his tenure at the ICC. He took on the position in 2022 following the appointment of Geoff Allardice as Chief Executive Officer.

Before joining the ICC, Wasim Khan had served as Chief Operating Officer at the Pakistan Cricket Board for three years. During his time with the PCB, he played a key role in administrative and operational matters, contributing to the management of domestic and international cricket activities in Pakistan.

His move to the ICC was seen as a significant step in his administrative career, placing him at the centre of global cricket governance. During his tenure, he was involved in various operational and strategic initiatives within the international body.

The decision to step down comes amid a broader trend of leadership changes within the ICC over the past two years. Several senior officials have either resigned or transitioned out of their roles, leading to a period of restructuring within the organisation.

Observers note that such changes often reflect evolving priorities and leadership strategies within international sports bodies. The ICC has been undergoing internal adjustments under its current leadership, with new officials taking on key roles.

While the reasons behind Khan’s resignation have not been officially detailed, his departure is expected to prompt further changes within the organisation’s management structure.

Cricket analysts say his experience in both domestic and international administration makes him a notable figure in the sport’s governance landscape, and his next career move will be closely watched.
