Nawaz responds in ICC doping case

Published on: April 23, 2026 4:59 PM

Pakistan all-rounder Mohammad Nawaz has submitted his written response to the International Cricket Council (ICC) in a case related to alleged use of a prohibited substance. The development marks a key step in the ongoing anti-doping investigation involving the player. The ICC is now expected to determine the next course of action.

According to sources, Nawaz provided his formal stance after being informed of a positive test result. The case emerged following testing during the previous T20 World Cup. Officials said the process is being handled under ICC anti-doping regulations. The final decision regarding possible action will be announced by the ICC.

Earlier, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) confirmed that the matter was initiated by the ICC. The board stated that the international body would complete the investigation process. Nawaz was subsequently informed about the findings, and further proceedings were launched. The player has remained under review since the initial report.

The case is being examined under the rules of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA). If the allegations are proven, disciplinary action could be imposed according to international standards. Such procedures may include suspension or other penalties depending on the outcome. The ICC has not yet issued a final verdict.
