Britain moves to break Hormuz blockade

Published on: April 23, 2026 9:20 PM

Britain has prepared a naval deployment to the Strait of Hormuz. The move aims to break disruptions affecting global shipping lanes. It could directly impact oil trade and international supply chains.

The United Kingdom is sending an advanced minesweeper as part of a multinational mission. The goal is to ensure safe passage for commercial tankers. The deployment comes amid ongoing tensions despite a fragile ceasefire. It also reflects rising concern over maritime security risks.

Furthermore, the British Ministry of Defence has confirmed training of Royal Navy units. Elite divers are preparing for underwater mine-clearing operations. Advanced unmanned systems will also be used alongside human teams. These systems target new generations of smart naval mines.

In addition, Britain is coordinating diplomatic efforts alongside military planning. Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper urged full restoration of shipping routes. She warned that reduced traffic is harming global supply chains. She described the situation as a critical diplomatic moment.

Meanwhile, Britain has called for Tehran to allow unrestricted maritime movement. Officials stressed that reopening the strait is vital for global economic stability.
