The decision was announced by Mohsin Naqvi, who said he had requested the prime minister to reconsider the no-crowd policy following repeated appeals from franchise owners. While the government had initially maintained strict austerity measures due to a fuel conservation strategy, an exception has now been made for the final match.

Earlier, all PSL 11 games were held without spectators as part of nationwide efforts to reduce energy consumption amid a regional fuel crisis linked to ongoing geopolitical tensions. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) had also limited matches to Karachi and Lahore to minimise travel and associated fuel usage.
Naqvi noted that although the prime minister remained committed to austerity, he agreed to allow fans for the final after franchises stressed the importance of crowd presence. Team owners argued that the league’s atmosphere and identity were closely tied to spectator engagement, and that a final without fans would feel incomplete.
The approval is expected to boost excitement around the tournament’s climax, with supporters now able to witness the title clash live in the stadium. However, the relaxation applies strictly to the final, with no broader changes announced for earlier matches or other events.

The move reflects a balancing act between maintaining economic discipline and recognising the cultural and commercial significance of major sporting events. With fans set to return for the final showdown, organisers anticipate a more vibrant and traditional PSL experience to conclude the season.
