Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader and National Assembly member Sher Afzal Marwat has announced he will challenge the selection of Sohail Afridi as Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chief minister. He said the decision was wrong and has deepened internal party divisions. His remarks highlight growing tensions within the party leadership.
Marwat said the governance situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has worsened, with poor performance in key sectors. He alleged irregularities in the health sector, including issues in medicine procurement and hospital management. He argued that public services in the province are facing serious decline.

He also said he initially informed Ali Amin Gandapur about his intention to challenge the decision. However, he claimed he is now rejecting that advice and proceeding with legal action. Marwat maintained that the appointment has weakened party unity.
The PTI leader said he would contest the nomination in court and expressed confidence in a favourable outcome. He argued that Sohail Afridi’s appointment has damaged the party’s internal structure and political strength. He warned that continued leadership disputes could further fragment the party.
