A shocking incident in India has sparked outrage after a man reportedly brought the skeletal remains of his deceased sister to a bank in an attempt to prove her death and withdraw money from her account.

According to Indian media reports, the incident took place in Odisha, where the man identified as Jeetu Munda went to extreme lengths to access funds deposited in his late sister’s bank account. The account held approximately 19,300 rupees in an Odisha Gramya Bank branch.

The sister, Kalra Munda, had reportedly died two months earlier. Following her death, her husband and only child had also passed away, leaving Jeetu as the sole surviving relative. When he attempted to withdraw the money, bank officials reportedly asked him to provide either a death certificate or legal inheritance documents proving his claim.
Authorities said Jeetu did not possess the required paperwork and was unaware of the legal process needed to access the funds. Frustrated and unable to meet the requirements, he allegedly returned to his village, exhumed his sister’s grave, and retrieved her skeletal remains.
He then wrapped the remains in cloth and carried them to the bank, hoping they would serve as proof of death. The disturbing act reportedly caused panic and confusion among bank staff and customers present at the branch.
Local officials and bank authorities were later alerted, and the situation was brought under control. The incident has raised serious questions about financial awareness, administrative processes, and the desperation faced by individuals dealing with bureaucratic hurdles in rural areas.
