The federal cabinet has approved a vaccine production policy to boost self-reliance and reduce imports. The meeting took place in Islamabad under Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. This decision marks a major step toward strengthening the country’s healthcare system and saving foreign exchange.

During the meeting, the prime minister briefed cabinet members on ongoing diplomatic efforts in the Middle East. He emphasized the importance of reducing tensions through dialogue and cooperation. Meanwhile, the cabinet reviewed several key policy matters listed on the agenda.

Moreover, the cabinet approved a plan related to the education sector. It allowed the hiring of daily wage teachers from grades 1 to 15 as visiting faculty in the Federal Directorate of Education. This move is expected to address staffing gaps and improve teaching support in institutions.

Finally, the cabinet reviewed important reports, including NEPRA’s Annual Report 2025 and the State of Industry Report 2025. These reports provided insights into energy and industrial performance. Overall, the vaccine production policy to boost self-reliance reflects the government’s broader strategy for economic stability and sustainable growth.
