Ahmed Ali Butt’s TikTok remark sparks backlash online

Published on: April 30, 2026 11:34 AM

Pakistani actor, singer and host Ahmed Ali Butt is facing criticism after a controversial remark about TikTok creators during a recent interview clip.

The comment, made in a light exchange, has quickly sparked backlash online.

Ahmed Ali Butt was hosting a conversation with Adnan Butt when the topic shifted toward public perceptions of people joining the entertainment industry from non-traditional backgrounds.

Adnan Butt shared that attitudes in society have changed over time and people are now less judgmental about career shifts.

In response, Ahmed Ali Butt jokingly said that times have changed because, in his words, “everyone has become a kanjar on TikTok.” He immediately acknowledged during the conversation that he expected backlash for the statement.

However, the word choice quickly drew criticism across social media platforms.

In recent years, TikTok has become a major platform for emerging digital talent in Pakistan.

Creators such as Jannat Mirza, Kanwal Aftab and Zulqarnain Haider have gained massive followings and transitioned into mainstream visibility. Others, including Rajab Butt, have also built strong digital audiences through the platform.

Following the clip’s circulation, many users expressed disappointment over Ahmed Ali Butt’s remarks, arguing that the language used was inappropriate given his public profile and industry background.

Critics also pointed out the growing importance of digital creators in Pakistan’s entertainment landscape.

Coming from a well-known showbiz family, Ahmed Ali Butt is the grandson of legendary singer Madam Noor Jehan.

He has worked in television, films and hosting, building a long-standing career in Pakistan’s entertainment industry.
