These conditions include advanced kidney failure requiring dialysis, severe heart failure, liver cirrhosis, serious neurological disorders, dementia, and extreme old age. Pregnant women in the final months of pregnancy have also been advised against undertaking the pilgrimage due to health and safety concerns.
The Ministry stressed that maintaining good health is essential for pilgrims to perform religious rites comfortably and safely. It urged applicants to undergo medical assessments before travel and ensure they meet all required health standards.
Vaccination has been made a central part of the Hajj health protocol. The meningitis vaccine has been declared mandatory for all pilgrims this year as part of preventive health measures against infectious diseases.
In addition, COVID-19 vaccination remains recommended for high-risk groups, including elderly pilgrims aged 65 and above. Health authorities also advised booster doses for those who received earlier vaccinations before specified time limits.
Seasonal influenza vaccination has also been included in the Hajj 2026 requirements, particularly for pilgrims who received flu shots before September 2025. Authorities recommend that such individuals obtain a booster dose to ensure adequate protection during the pilgrimage.
Saudi health officials emphasized that vaccination and adherence to medical guidelines are essential for safeguarding pilgrims’ health and preventing outbreaks during the crowded Hajj season.
