Published on: May 1, 2026 10:08 AM

Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar on Thursday paid tribute to seven-year-old Irtaza Abbas Turi, son of Lieutenant Colonel Zaheer Abbas Turi, who was martyred in Azad Kashmir, last year, due to unprovoked Indian cross-border aggression.

“Martyrdom of young Irtaza Abbas has raised the nation’s pride, and the sacrifices rendered in the Marka-e-Haq will never be forgotten,” the minister said.

Tarar expressed these views as a delegation of federal ministers visited the residence of the martyred child to offer condolences and pay homage.

He added that victory in the Marka-e-Haq achieved through the sacrifices of the armed forces and the prayers of the nation, for which the country remains deeply grateful to Almighty Allah.

Federal Minister for Climate Change and Environmental Coordination, Dr. Musadik Malik, and Minister of State for Federal Education and Professional Training, Wajiha Qamar, were also present on the occasion.

It was noted that at the time of his son’s martyrdom, his father, Lieutenant Colonel Zaheer Abbas, was engaged in combat against the enemy at the Line of Control (LoC). Despite the tragic loss, he continued to perform his duty at the frontlines and gave a befitting response to the enemy.

The federal ministers saluted the determination and courage of Lieutenant Colonel Zaheer Abbas, terming it a reflection of unwavering commitment to the nation.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Musadik Malik said that the sacrifices of martyrs had further strengthened the nation’s morale, adding that the country salutes its great sons.

Minister of State Wajiha Qamar said that the families of martyrs symbolise patience and resilience, and the nation holds their spirit in the highest regard.

The delegation reiterated that the sacrifices rendered in the Marka-e-Haq by the armed forces and the nation would always remain a source of pride and strength for Pakistan.
