Azma pays tribute to labourers, highlights welfare initiatives

Published on: May 2, 2026 1:16 AM

Punjab Information Minister Azma Bokhari on Friday paid rich tribute to the labourers and hardworking workers of Pakistan, saying they play a central role in the country’s development.

In a message, she said the Punjab government is taking historic steps for the welfare of labourers and working-class people across the province.

Azma said that for the first time, CM Maryam Nawaz-led government has introduced a ration card scheme for labourers. She added that thousands of labourers have also been provided flats under various housing initiatives.

She said the process of providing shelter to workers was continuing without interruption, adding that the Punjab government was extending relief from Lahore to Rahim Yar Khan and from Vehari to Attock.

The minister said Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has provided relief to all segments of society without any discrimination. She said the labour class remains at the top of the Punjab government’s priorities, adding that most welfare programmes of the provincial government are focused on the common man. Bokhari further said that in all development projects of the Punjab government, preference has been given to ordinary citizens.
