Chinese Embassy, PEN Sports mark 75 years of ties via PSL screening in Peshawar

Published on: May 2, 2026 2:05 AM

In connection with the celebrations marking 75 years of diplomatic friendship between Pakistan and China, the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Pakistan, in collaboration with PEN Sports, organized a special public screening of a Pakistan Super League match in Peshawar, drawing an overwhelming response from cricket lovers and members of the public.

More than 500 people gathered at a local restaurant to witness the match, making the event a vibrant blend of sports enthusiasm and public diplomacy, said a press release.

The event was designed to celebrate the enduring friendship between Pakistan and China through the universally loved platform of cricket while also engaging the youth and the general public in understanding the significance of bilateral cooperation.

Specially curated videos were showcased, before the toss, during the innings break, and after the conclusion of the match, on the giant screen highlighting China’s remarkable development journey, the progress of the China Pakistan Economic Corridor, and the transformational role CPEC has played in strengthening Pakistan’s economy, infrastructure, and energy sector.

The audience watched these visuals with great interest and appreciation, particularly the segments demonstrating how China has remained a steadfast and dependable partner of Pakistan during difficult times as well as in the country’s long term development process.

The informative videos helped create a deeper understanding among attendees regarding the positive impact of Pakistan China cooperation and the broader vision behind CPEC.

Participants at the screening widely appreciated the initiative undertaken by the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Pakistan and PEN Sports.

One attendee remarked that the people of Pakistan deeply value the historic 75 years of friendship between the two countries and sincerely hope that this brotherly bond continues to grow stronger with each passing year. Another attendee shared that such activities are extremely beneficial because they allow ordinary citizens, especially young people, to learn more about China, its phenomenal rise, and its sincere contributions toward Pakistan’s progress.

Many attendees collectively expressed the view that more such public engagement activities should be organized in different cities of Pakistan, as they not only provide healthy entertainment but also build stronger people to people understanding between the two nations.

They noted that introducing the public to China’s development model, technological advancements, and its partnership with Pakistan in an engaging environment is a highly effective way to further deepen bilateral goodwill.

The atmosphere throughout the screening remained festive and energetic, with families, youth, and cricket fans thoroughly enjoying both the match and the informational presentations.

The event successfully demonstrated how sports, cultural outreach, and developmental awareness can be merged to create a meaningful public diplomacy initiative.

The special screening hosted jointly by PEN Sports and the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Pakistan emerged as a memorable and highly successful celebration in Peshawar, reinforcing the message that the Pakistan China friendship remains stronger than ever after 75 remarkable years.
