Bollywood actor and politician Kangana Ranaut has strongly denied viral claims linking her to a marriage rumour involving opposition leader Rahul Gandhi, calling the circulating reports fake and misleading.

The controversy began after a social media meme page shared a fabricated quote falsely attributed to Ranaut. The post claimed that she had said she would be willing to marry Rahul Gandhi if he joined the Bharatiya Janata Party. The statement quickly gained traction online, with some users and media platforms reportedly treating the remark as genuine.

Ranaut later responded by sharing a screenshot of the post on her Instagram story, criticising the spread of misinformation. She described the rumour as “fake news” and expressed frustration over what she said was a lack of dignity and respect for women, even in politics.

In her response, the actor questioned why such fabricated content is circulated and amplified, arguing that public figures, particularly women, are often targeted through baseless personal rumours. She also urged greater responsibility in sharing and verifying information online.

Known for her outspoken views on political and social matters, Ranaut frequently attracts public attention both for her film work and political commentary. Her reaction to the rumour has sparked further debate on misinformation, meme culture, and the spread of unverified celebrity content on digital platforms.

Rahul Gandhi has not publicly commented on the reports. The rumour appears to have originated purely as satire before being misrepresented as an authentic statement.

The episode highlights the growing challenge public figures face in combating misinformation in the social media era, where edited posts and fabricated quotes can quickly gain widespread visibility before being debunked.
