KP CM inaugurates digital license management system

Published on: May 5, 2026 1:50 AM

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister (CM), Muhammad Sohail Afridi on Monday inaugurated the Digital License Management System, marking a significant step towards digitization of public services in the province.

Speaking at the ceremony, the CM said that under the digital licensing system, the issuance of driving licenses has been made fully digital. He said that digitization of services would not only facilitate citizens but also ensure merit and transparency in service delivery. He termed the initiative an important milestone in the provincial government’s reform agenda.

Afridi further stated that the provincial government was introducing a range of digital reforms, including e-governance, online service delivery, and digital payment systems to improve efficiency and accessibility.

During a briefing, it was informed that under the pilot phase of the system, a total of 19,966 learner licenses and 2,212 permanent licenses have so far been issued.

Citizens could now apply for driving licenses from home through the Dastak App and the official web portal.

The system also incorporated modern features such as AI-based facial recognition and online issuance of medical certificates.

Additionally, QR code verification and the establishment of a centralized database were integral components of the new digital licensing system, aimed at enhancing transparency and efficiency.
