Pakistan has expressed optimism about a possible agreement between the United States (US) and Iran, saying it expects progress in peace efforts soon amid ongoing diplomatic engagement between the two sides.

Foreign Office spokesperson Tahir Andrabi said during a weekly press briefing that Islamabad would welcome any settlement reached between Washington and Tehran, regardless of where it is concluded. He added that Pakistan would consider it an honour if an agreement were reached through its facilitation.

The remarks come as recent reports suggest renewed momentum in US-Iran contacts, with discussions reportedly focused on ending hostilities and establishing a framework for future negotiations. Islamabad has played a mediating and facilitative role in encouraging dialogue between the two countries.
Andrabi noted that Pakistan remains committed to supporting efforts aimed at restraint and peaceful resolution of conflicts through diplomacy. He said Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has already welcomed steps toward reducing tensions and has consistently called for stability in the region.
He further stated that Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar has remained in contact with international counterparts to promote dialogue and de-escalation between the two sides.
According to the Foreign Office, Pakistan continues to support all initiatives that could lead to durable peace in the region, particularly through sustained diplomatic engagement. The spokesperson added that positive signals from recent talks are encouraging, although a final agreement has not yet been reached.
The ongoing conflict between the US and Iran has seen intermittent escalation and diplomatic efforts, with Pakistan previously helping facilitate early rounds of dialogue. While differences remain on key issues such as nuclear commitments and maritime navigation routes, recent developments are seen as a potential step toward broader negotiations.

Separately, the Foreign Office also confirmed progress in the repatriation of Pakistani nationals detained in Cambodia, with most individuals already returned home.
