He directed authorities to accelerate the establishment of Asaan Khidmat Centres in Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir, and to coordinate with provincial governments for expanding similar facilities nationwide. He also emphasised the need to bridge the digital divide between urban and rural areas.

During the briefing, officials highlighted several ongoing initiatives aimed at promoting technology and innovation. These included a recent 5G spectrum auction described as one of the largest globally since 2016, generating $509 million in revenue.

They also informed the meeting about “Indus AI Week,” held in February 2025 across 30 cities, which featured participation from more than 100 international delegates and included 88 technology pavilions showcasing artificial intelligence developments.

In addition, fibre connectivity has reportedly been extended to government schools and health units in Islamabad. The rollout of free public internet hotspots in the capital is in its final stages.
