Commissioner Dera Ghazi Khan Division Ashfaq Ahmed Chaudhry visited Muzaffargarh and attended a ceremony organised by the Social Welfare Department where wheelchairs were distributed among special persons with the support of Muslim Hands UK?.
Deputy Commissioner Muzaffargarh Usman Tahir Jappa, Director Social Welfare Azhar Yousaf and other officials were also present on the occasion.
Addressing the ceremony, Commissioner Ashfaq Ahmed Chaudhry said special persons were an important part of society and providing facilities to them was among the government’s top priorities. He appreciated the role of welfare organisations and said institutions working for social welfare were playing an important role in helping deserving people.
He said all available resources would be used to help special persons live better and more independent lives. He also appreciated the cooperation of Muslim Hands UK in providing wheelchairs to deserving people.
During the visit, the commissioner reviewed the process of issuing Rehmat Cards arranged by the Social Welfare Department. He directed officers to ensure transparency in the process and provide complete guidance to applicants so deserving people could receive benefits without difficulty.
The commissioner also reviewed the performance of the Social Welfare Department and directed officers to continue working with dedication in the spirit of public service.
Earlier, Commissioner Ashfaq Ahmed Chaudhry visited DHQ Hospital Muzaffargarh where he inspected different wards and reviewed medical facilities being provided to patients. He checked cleanliness arrangements, the availability of medicines and administrative matters at the hospital.
Medical Superintendent DHQ Hospital Dr Muhammad Naseer briefed the commissioner about treatment facilities and patient care services. The commissioner directed the hospital administration to ensure the best possible treatment facilities for patients.
He also inspected the city beautification project and directed the concerned departments to further improve cleanliness, greenery and the environment in Muzaffargarh.
