Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif arrived in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan, along with a delegation, where she was accorded a warm welcome at the airport.
Deputy Minister for Defence Industry Mr Mehman Bakhshiyev received Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif and the delegation upon their arrival at Baku Airport. Azerbaijan’s Ambassador to Pakistan Khazar Farhadov and his wife, as well as Pakistan’s Ambassador to Azerbaijan Qasim Mohiuddin and his wife, were also present at the airport to welcome the delegation.
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif will be the official guest of the Government of Azerbaijan during her three-day visit. She is scheduled to meet Azerbaijan’s President Ilham Aliyev on May 17.
The chief minister will represent Pakistan at the World Urban Forum in Baku and will address the World Leaders Summit at Baku Olympic Stadium.
She will also present Punjab’s “Apni Chhat, Apna Ghar” initiative at the World Urban Forum. Punjab’s unique affordable housing model, “Apni Chhat, Apna Ghar,” will be showcased at the international forum.
Senior Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb, Information Minister Azma Bukhari, Housing Minister Bilal Yasin, Sports Minister Faisal Ayub, Agriculture Minister Ashiq Hussain Kirmani and Special Assistant Ali Dar are also part of the delegation.
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has paid tribute to Lady Constable Shakeela, who embraced martyrdom in a terrorist attack.
The chief minister expressed deep sympathy and condolences with the bereaved family and said the nation was proud of Balochistan’s brave daughter, martyred Lady Constable Shakeela. CM Maryam Nawaz also prayed for the early recovery of her husband and son, who sustained injuries in the attack.
