Pakistan’s Defence Minister Khawaja Asif said recent visits by Asim Munir and Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi to Iran indicate that regional tensions may be nearing a resolution. He described the diplomatic engagements as a positive sign amid ongoing efforts to reduce tensions between Iran and the United States. The remarks came during a conversation with media in Sialkot.
Khawaja Asif said Pakistan’s mediation efforts have gradually moved closer to a positive outcome. He added that Islamabad is working to help the world avoid a major regional crisis. Furthermore, the minister expressed confidence that Pakistan’s diplomatic initiatives would ultimately succeed in supporting peace and stability.

The defence minister also voiced hope for lasting peace across the region, including Pakistan and neighbouring countries. He stressed that stability in the Middle East would benefit both regional security and global peace efforts. Pakistan has recently increased diplomatic engagement with Iran and other countries involved in mediation discussions.
Speaking about domestic challenges, Asif acknowledged that inflation continues affecting ordinary citizens across Pakistan. He said low-income groups are facing the greatest economic difficulties due to limited financial resources. Additionally, he noted that the recent conflict negatively impacted economic recovery and slowed national progress.

Khawaja Asif said economic recovery efforts have not only stalled but also moved backwards because of the regional crisis. He added that lasting peace would create much-needed economic relief for Pakistan and its people. The minister concluded by recognising the hardships faced by citizens struggling to afford basic necessities and daily meals.
