Pakistan and thirteen other countries strongly condemned the opening of a so-called Somaliland embassy in occupied Jerusalem, describing the move as illegal, unacceptable and against international law. The joint statement reflected growing diplomatic opposition to actions that could alter the legal and historical status of occupied Palestinian territories and undermine internationally recognised agreements regarding Jerusalem.
The statement was jointly issued by the foreign ministers of Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Jordan, Turkiye, Indonesia, Somalia and several other Muslim-majority nations. The ministers stated that the establishment of the office in occupied Jerusalem directly violated international resolutions and challenged the city’s recognised legal and historical identity under international law.

In addition to the Jerusalem issue, the joint declaration strongly supported the unity, sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Somalia. The ministers firmly rejected any unilateral initiatives that could weaken Somalia’s territorial integrity or challenge its internationally recognised sovereignty. Over recent years, Somalia has actively campaigned against international recognition of Somaliland, arguing that such actions threaten regional stability and violate established international principles regarding national sovereignty. The latest joint statement further strengthened Somalia’s diplomatic stance while demonstrating broader political solidarity among several Muslim countries on issues concerning Palestine and territorial integrity.
The coordinated response also reflected increasing cooperation among participating nations on major geopolitical and legal concerns affecting the Muslim world, particularly regarding Jerusalem and occupied Palestinian territories. Observers believe the unified diplomatic position may increase pressure on international actors to avoid steps that could escalate tensions or complicate already sensitive regional disputes.
