Mitchell Marsh ruled out of Pakistan ODIs

Published on: May 26, 2026 9:19 PM

Mitchell Marsh injury concerns forced him out of Australia’s ODI series against Pakistan, Cricket Australia confirmed on Tuesday. The Australian captain suffered an ankle injury during the IPL and will miss the upcoming three-match series. The setback affects Australia ahead of an important white-ball schedule in Asia.

Cricket Australia said Marsh also missed Indian Premier League action for Lucknow Super Giants because of the same injury. Officials added that Marsh would remain in Perth for treatment and further medical assessment. His availability for Australia’s upcoming white-ball tour of Bangladesh will be decided later.

Following Marsh’s absence, wicketkeeper-batter Josh Inglis will captain Australia during the Pakistan ODI series. Cricket Australia expressed confidence in Inglis leading the side during the short tour. The series will also provide younger players an opportunity to strengthen their positions in the national squad.

Pakistan and Australia will play the opening ODI on May 30 in Rawalpindi. The remaining two matches are scheduled for June 2 and June 4 in Lahore. Security and logistical preparations are already underway for the high-profile series.

The ODI series is expected to attract significant attention from cricket fans in both countries. Australia will look to maintain momentum despite Marsh’s absence, while Pakistan aim to perform strongly at home. Analysts believe the leadership change could influence Australia’s approach during the series.
