Trump says US-Iran talks continue

Published on: June 3, 2026 12:03 AM

US President Donald Trump said on Tuesday that talks between the United States and Iran are continuing despite reports suggesting communication had stopped. The statement is significant because diplomatic efforts remain central to easing regional tensions. The ongoing negotiations affect both countries and broader Middle East stability.

In a message posted on his social media platform, Trump rejected claims that Tehran had suspended contact following Israeli attacks in Lebanon. He described reports of a breakdown in communication as false and misleading. According to Trump, discussions between American and Iranian officials have continued without interruption in recent days.

The US president said the two sides had been in contact four days ago, three days ago, two days ago, one day ago, and again on Tuesday. His remarks came amid weeks of direct and indirect diplomatic engagement. However, negotiations have yet to produce a breakthrough capable of ending the conflict that began on February 28.

Trump acknowledged uncertainty about the outcome of the discussions. He said it was impossible to predict where the negotiations would ultimately lead. Nevertheless, he reiterated his position that Iran should reach an agreement, arguing that longstanding disputes between Washington and Tehran require a resolution.

The comments underscore continued efforts to keep diplomatic channels open despite ongoing regional instability. Analysts view sustained communication as an important step toward preventing further escalation. While no major agreement has been announced, both sides remain engaged in talks aimed at finding a potential path forward.
