The message was delivered on the occasion of the 37th death anniversary of Ruhollah Khomeini, the founder of the Islamic Republic. Khamenei’s written statement was read out during a commemorative ceremony attended by officials, religious figures and members of the public.

In his message, the Iranian leader stressed that unity among the people is essential to confront challenges facing the country. He warned that opponents of Iran are now focusing on weakening public resolve and creating internal discord after what he described as setbacks in direct confrontations.

Khamenei said any actions that promote despair, disappointment or hopelessness among the public effectively serve the interests of the country’s adversaries. He urged citizens to remain steadfast and preserve national cohesion in the face of external pressure and ongoing regional tensions.

According to the statement, Iran’s enemies are seeking to undermine the resilience of the Iranian people by encouraging divisions and exploiting internal differences. He argued that maintaining social solidarity and public confidence is crucial for safeguarding national interests and stability.

The remarks come amid heightened tensions in the region and ongoing diplomatic and security challenges involving Iran and several international actors. Iranian officials have repeatedly emphasized the importance of unity and resistance in response to political, economic and military pressures.

The anniversary of Ruhollah Khomeini’s death is observed annually in Iran and is marked by ceremonies, speeches and gatherings reflecting on the country’s political and religious history. The event often serves as a platform for senior leaders to address national and international issues.
