Public support for PML-N growing strongly in GB: Azma Bokhari

Published on: June 7, 2026 3:26 AM

Punjab Information and Culture Minister Azma Bokhari has said that chants of “Sheir, Sheir, and Sheir” are echoing across Gilgit-Baltistan, reflecting the growing public confidence in the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) ahead of the upcoming elections.

In a statement issued on Saturday, she said that the people of Gilgit-Baltistan have consistently supported PML-N due to its performance, public service, and commitment to development. She maintained that the party has earned the trust of the public by delivering practical results and improving infrastructure and public facilities in the region.

Azma Bokhari criticized opposition parties for relying on allegations and negative propaganda instead of competing on the basis of performance. She said that the public is now fully aware of such tactics and continues to support PML-N to ensure the continuation of development and progress.

The provincial minister asserted that no political party other than PML-N has carried out significant development and welfare projects in Gilgit-Baltistan. She highlighted the construction of roads, infrastructure, and other public development initiatives as evidence of the party’s commitment to serving the people.

Commenting on Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Azma Bokhari said that the party does not have a substantial vote bank in Gilgit-Baltistan but has been attempting to create an impression that it is being prevented from running its election campaign. She questioned the basis of allegations regarding pre-poll rigging, noting that some parties had not even fielded a complete slate of candidates.

She further stated that PTI’s political narratives have repeatedly failed to stand the test of time and that voters now prefer politics based on performance, governance, and service delivery rather than slogans and propaganda.

Azma Bokhari emphasized that if opposition parties wish to challenge PML-N, they should do so through public service and performance, adding that false accusations and mudslinging have consistently failed as political strategies.

Expressing confidence in the party’s vision, she said PML-N remains committed to taking Gilgit-Baltistan towards greater development, prosperity, and modern facilities. She added that the party aims to transform the region into a developed and prosperous area on the model of Lahore.
