Published on: June 7, 2026 4:30 AM

Cotton has been cultivated on 1.5 milion of acres of land across Bahawalpur division, Kisan Convention seminar told.

Under the auspices of the Agriculture Department, Government of Punajb, a Kisan Convention seminar was organized here where the officials of the Agriculture informed participants that cotton has been cultivated on 1.56 million acres across Bahawalpur Division this year and that the crop is currently in the maintenance and care stage.

They urged farmers to ensure timely weed control, balanced fertilizer application, pest scouting, and the adoption of modern farming practices. Addressing the seminar, Commissioner Irfan Ali Kathia, said that cotton holds a key position in the prosperity of farmers and the agricultural economy. He expressed optimism that improved market conditions and favorable cotton prices this year will bring significant benefits to growers.

The commissioner directed field staff to remain in close contact with farmers and provide guidance based on modern agricultural recommendations to help increase cotton yield per acre. He noted that the government of Punjab is implementing several farmer-friendly initiatives, including the Green Tractor Program, Kisan Card, Green Agri Mall, “Apna Khet Apna Rozgar” (My Farm, My Livelihood), and the Agricultural Graduates Internship Program. During the seminar, agricultural experts provided guidance on improved cotton crop management, balanced nutrient use, and techniques to enhance productivity.

On the occasion, Commissioner Irfan Ali Kathia also distributed certificates of appreciation to farmers in recognition of their outstanding performance.
