Deputy Chairman Senate condemns acid attack on Dr Mah Noor

Published on: June 8, 2026 3:32 AM

Deputy Chairman Senate of Pakistan, Syedaal Khan, on Sunday strongly condemned the acid attack on Dr Mah Noor in Balochistan, describing it as a cowardly, inhumane, and intolerable act. In a statement, he said Dr Mah Noor is the daughter of the entire nation, particularly of Balochistan, and has dedicated herself to the service of humanity. He said doctors are a source of national pride and deserve utmost respect and dignity, adding that any form of violence against them is completely unacceptable.

The Deputy Chairman of the Senate said the incident had deeply saddened not only the medical community but the entire nation. He expressed best wishes for Dr Mah Noor’s swift recovery and urged the relevant authorities to ensure the provision of the best possible medical treatment and facilities for her full recovery.

He further stated that he is personally in contact with the Government of Balochistan, relevant institutions, and Dr Mah Noor’s family regarding the matter. Referring to the arrest of the perpetrator, he said the prompt action by law enforcement agencies was commendable.

However, he stressed the need for effective and sustainable measures to prevent such tragic incidents in the future so that no daughter, doctor, or citizen has to face such violence again. The Deputy Chairman Senate also appreciated the support extended by the Government of Balochistan to the injured doctor and expressed gratitude for its timely response and cooperation. He reaffirmed that ensuring a safe, dignified, and conducive environment for doctors, particularly female doctors, is the need of the hour.

He said the entire nation stands with Dr Mah Noor and prays for her speedy and complete recovery, adding that such cowardly acts cannot weaken national resolve but instead strengthen the commitment to justice, security, and the rule of law.
