US President Donald Trump has announced that planned military strikes against Iran have been halted, saying negotiations with Tehran have reached an advanced stage. The development has raised expectations about a possible US-Iran Peace Agreement, which Trump described as being close to completion.
In a statement posted on the social media platform Truth Social, Trump said discussions with the Islamic Republic of Iran had reached the highest level and had received the necessary approvals. He added that, as president, he decided to stop the planned attacks in light of the diplomatic progress.
Trump stated that all parties involved had reached broad and detailed understandings on the main points of the proposed agreement. According to his statement, countries including the United States, Israel, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Türkiye, Pakistan, Bahrain, Kuwait, Jordan, and Egypt have been part of discussions surrounding the framework of the deal.
The US president also said that a naval blockade would remain fully in place until the final agreement is signed. He noted that the date and location of the signing ceremony would be announced soon, while negotiations continue toward a formal conclusion.
Earlier, Trump had declared that the United States would launch severe strikes against Iran and claimed that Iranian military defenses had been neutralized. He also said the US would gain control of key Iranian oil and gas facilities, including Kharg Island. However, his latest statement suggests a shift toward diplomacy as the proposed US-Iran Peace Agreement moves closer to a final stage.
