Governor summons Balochistan Assembly budget session on June 17

Published on: June 16, 2026 8:38 AM

The Governor of Balochistan has summoned the provincial assembly’s budget session under Article 109(a) of the Constitution. According to a notification issued by the Balochistan Assembly Secretariat, the session will convene on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, at 4:00 PM in Quetta.

The Secretariat emphasized strict security and entry protocols for the upcoming proceedings. All officers, staff members, and representatives of print and electronic media will be required to present valid entry cards to access the assembly premises.

In a significant directive, the entry of both government and private armed security guards into the Secretariat during the session has been prohibited.

Given the prevailing security situation in the province, the Secretariat further announced that general visitors will not be allowed entry into the assembly building during the budget session.

Meanwhile, Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti reaffirmed his government’s commitment to utilizing provincial resources for public welfare, job creation, improved basic facilities, and sustainable development.

He highlighted education, health, drinking water, communications, and infrastructure as priority sectors that would receive special focus in the upcoming budget.

Chief Minister Balochistan, Mir Sarfraz Bugti, expressed these views while presiding over a high-level meeting at the Chief Minister’s Secretariat with parliamentary leaders of coalition parties to deliberate on the upcoming 2026-27 provincial budget, development priorities, welfare projects, and the overall political situation in the province.

During the session, coalition leaders presented various proposals and recommendations. Consensus was reached that the new budget would be prepared in line with public needs, ground realities, and the development of underprivileged areas, ensuring that the benefits of growth reach all segments of society.

Later, a delegation of the Pakistan Muslim League (N) Balochistan, led by parliamentary leader Mir Saleem Khan Khosa, met the Chief Minister.

The delegation discussed the budget, political affairs, development projects, and public issues, while expressing confidence in Bugti’s leadership and praising the government’s performance and people-friendly policies.

In another meeting, tribal elder Sardar Kamal Khan Bangulzai led a delegation that apprised the Chief Minister of local challenges, development needs, and basic facility shortages.

Bugti assured the delegation that addressing public issues and ensuring development in remote areas remain top priorities of his government.

He directed relevant authorities to take immediate steps and emphasized equal development opportunities across all regions of Balochistan.

Chief Minister Bugti stressed that continuous consultation with public representatives, political parties, tribal elders, and diverse stakeholders is central to his administration’s vision.

He declared that the upcoming provincial budget is being prepared with the expectations of the people, developmental requirements, and future needs in mind, marking a new chapter of progress, prosperity, and improved governance in Balochistan.
