Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has agreed to begin PTI government talks after welcoming Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s latest offer for dialogue. The party said it is ready for negotiations and is waiting for the government to explain the delay in starting the process. The development signals a possible step toward reducing political tensions in the country.
Speaking in the National Assembly, PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar said the party welcomes the prime minister’s invitation for talks. He stated that PTI has requested access to the party’s founder and is seeking clarity on when the negotiations will officially begin.
Barrister Gohar also noted that the parliamentary session did not begin in a positive atmosphere between the government and the opposition. He emphasized the need for patience and tolerance from both sides, saying such an approach would help lower tensions and create a healthier political environment.
The PTI chairman further raised concerns about the suspension of lawmaker Iqbal Afridi. He urged the authorities to allow Afridi to return for the remaining proceedings of the assembly session. Gohar also acknowledged that Federal Minister Rana Tanveer had apologized to PTI members and said the party accepted the apology.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif had renewed his invitation for dialogue with PTI on June 13. The opposition party says it is prepared to move forward with PTI government talks and hopes the negotiations will begin soon to address important political matters and strengthen democratic institutions in Pakistan.
