Iran Confirms Final Text of US-Iran Memorandum of Understanding Has Been Agreed

The final version of the US-Iran Memorandum of Understanding has been agreed upon, according to Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei. He confirmed that both sides have electronically signed the document, marking a significant step toward easing tensions and implementing a framework for future cooperation between Tehran and Washington.

Speaking to Iranian state television, Baghaei said that the presidents of Iran and the United States have already signed the agreed text electronically. He added that the meeting previously expected to take place in Switzerland on Friday may no longer be necessary, as the memorandum has already been finalized. However, negotiating teams are still scheduled to remain in Geneva as planned.

The Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson stated that immediate talks would begin to implement the agreement. He emphasized that responsibility for managing the Strait of Hormuz rests with Iran and Oman. Baghaei also warned that any continued Israeli military action in Lebanon would be considered a violation of the terms outlined in the understanding.

Baghaei reiterated that Iran’s missile program is not open for negotiations and that Iranian nuclear material will not be transferred outside the country. He noted that Iran has options for reducing the enrichment level of its uranium under international arrangements. He also said that ships using services in the Strait of Hormuz would be required to pay fees for those services.

In addition, Baghaei stressed that Iran should be allowed to sell its oil freely during the next 60 days and called for the removal of oil-related sanctions. He said the United States must facilitate access to Iran’s frozen assets and avoid imposing new sanctions or increasing its military presence in the region during the implementation period. According to Iranian officials, the US-Iran Memorandum of Understanding is now entering a new phase focused on execution and follow-up negotiations.
