Solar panel prices crash after fuel cut

Published on: June 20, 2026 10:32 PM

Solar panel prices have declined in Lahore following a major reduction in petroleum product rates. The price drop is expected to lower renewable energy costs for consumers and businesses. Households planning solar installations and battery purchases are likely to benefit the most.

Market sources said prices of solar panels with different wattage capacities have fallen by Rs4,000 to Rs9,000. Traders linked the decline to reduced transportation and logistics costs after the government cut petroleum prices. Dealers also expect further reductions in the coming weeks if fuel prices remain stable.

The latest development comes after significant cuts in petrol and diesel prices, which affected overall supply chain expenses. Industry stakeholders believe lower fuel costs can improve affordability across the renewable energy sector. As a result, demand for solar systems may increase among residential and commercial consumers.

Meanwhile, battery prices are also expected to decline in the coming days. Market analysts noted that rising petroleum costs had previously pushed battery prices sharply higher. The reduction in transportation and distribution expenses could now help reverse that trend.

Earlier, battery prices had increased by Rs27,000 to Rs38,000 per unit due to higher fuel-related costs. Traders say the market is closely monitoring future petroleum price movements. Further reductions could provide additional relief to consumers investing in solar energy solutions.
