The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has nominated Amjad Hussain Advocate for the position of Chief Minister of Gilgit-Baltistan. According to party sources, this is the first time PPP has selected a candidate from the Gilgit region for the province’s top executive office.

Amjad Hussain Advocate currently serves as the president of PPP Gilgit-Baltistan and is considered one of the party’s leading figures in the region. He recently won the GBA-1 Gilgit seat in the latest elections, strengthening his position within the party.

The Election Commission of Gilgit-Baltistan has announced official results for 21 out of 24 constituencies. According to the results, PPP emerged as the largest party with nine seats, followed by Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) with six seats, IPP with four seats, MWM with one seat, and one independent candidate.

The results for GBA-9 Skardu-3, GBA-17 Diamer-3, and GBA-15 Diamer-1 are yet to be announced. The Election Commission also allocated six reserved seats for women, with PPP securing three, PML-N two, and IPP one. Among the three technocrat seats, PPP, PML-N, and IPP received one seat each.

PPP leader Nayyar Hussain Bukhari stated that, after including reserved and technocrat seats, the party is expected to hold a clear majority of 17 to 19 seats. He expressed confidence that Amjad Hussain Advocate will lead PPP in forming the next government in Gilgit-Baltistan.
