Gas production has started from newly discovered wells in Dhrki and Khairpur in Sindh. The development adds fresh volumes to Pakistan’s energy supply system. The update is significant as the country continues to address ongoing energy demand and supply challenges.
According to Mari Energies, gas from the Shams-1 discovery in Dhrki has been injected into the Sui Northern Gas Pipeline network. The field is supplying around 30 million cubic feet of gas per day. The addition is expected to strengthen domestic gas availability.
The company said Mari Development and Production Lease Dhrki operates the field with full ownership. The production marks another step in expanding output from local energy assets. Officials say such developments help reduce pressure on imported fuel sources.
Separately, the Oil and Gas Development Company Limited has begun production from the Sethu-1 well in Khairpur. The well is supplying around six million cubic feet of gas per day to the Sui Southern network. The gas is being routed through a processing system linked via a five-kilometre pipeline.
Officials said the Khairpur well is connected to the Sinjhoro processing plant before distribution. They added that production is expected to increase gradually over time. The new output contributes to stabilising Pakistan’s overall gas supply system.
