President, PM pay tribute to Havaldar Lalak Jan on martyrdom anniversary

President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday paid rich tribute to Havaldar Lalak Jan Shaheed, Nishan-e-Haider, on his martyrdom anniversary, honoring his great sacrifice and bravery during the Kargil war of 1999.

In their separately issued statements, the president and the prime minister said that Havaldar Lalak Jan Shaheed’s determination and patriotism served as a guiding light for future generations, as well as a source of pride for the entire nation.

President Zardari said that that the sacrifices of the martyrs were guarantee for a secure, strong, and dignified future for Pakistan.

He said that Havaldar Lalak Jan Shaheed set a bright example of unparalleled courage, steadfastness, and devotion to duty for the defense of the homeland.

The president said that the sacrifices of the martyrs formed a strong foundation for Pakistan’s security, sovereignty, and national dignity, which the nation would always remember with reverence and pride.

Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif said that Havaldar Lalak Jan’s courage, bravery, and great sacrifice for the defense of the homeland during the Kargil war were a source of pride for the entire nation.

He said that remaining steadfast against the enemy despite being severely injured was proof of his unparalleled spirit of patriotism.

The prime minister reaffirmed that the nation would never forget the sacrifices of this great son of the soil and all other martyrs of Pakistan.

Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf, Chief of the Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu, and the Armed Forces of Pakistan solemnly commemorate the martyrdom anniversary of Havildar Lalak Jan Shaheed, Nishan-e-Haider, paying profound tribute to his extraordinary courage, unwavering devotion and supreme sacrifice in the defence of the motherland during the Kargil conflict.

On this day in 1999, Havildar Lalak Jan Shaheed displayed exceptional gallantry and steadfast resolve while defending his post against relentless enemy attacks. Despite sustaining critical injuries, he refused evacuation.

He continued to lead by example, fighting with indomitable determination until he embraced martyrdom in the line of duty, said a statement issued by Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR).

His immortal sacrifice remains a shining symbol of courage, resilience and selfless service. The Armed Forces of Pakistan and the nation honour his enduring legacy with profound respect and gratitude. His life and sacrifice continue to inspire present and future generations to uphold the highest ideals of duty, honour and patriotism.

The people and Armed Forces reaffirm their unwavering commitment to preserving the sacred trust of the Shuhada-e-Pakistan and defending the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the nation with the same spirit of courage, dedication and honour.

Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif on Tuesday paid glowing tribute to Nishan-i-Haider recipient Havaldar Lalak Jan Shaheed on his martyrdom anniversary.

She said his unmatched courage, steadfastness and supreme sacrifice in defence of the motherland would forever remain a source of inspiration for the nation.

In a message issued on the occasion, the chief minister said Havaldar Lalak Jan Shaheed thwarted the enemy’s nefarious designs despite sustaining severe injuries, displaying extraordinary bravery and unwavering commitment to the country’s defence.

She said the valiant soldier set the highest example of courage, resilience and patriotism, adding that Havaldar Lalak Jan Shaheed was a national hero whose memory would always live in the hearts of people.

CM Maryam Nawaz said the martyrs who laid down their lives for the security and sovereignty of the motherland were the pride, honour and true defenders of the nation.

She added that the sacrifices rendered by the country’s brave soldiers could never be repaid and would always be remembered with profound respect and gratitude.

The CM said that the nation salutes its martyrs and remains committed to honouring their unparalleled sacrifices for the defence and dignity of Pakistan.
