Punjab Police remained on high alert and performed comprehensive security duties during Christian worship and prayer services held in churches across the province, including Lahore, on Sunday. Inspector General of Police Punjab Abdul Kareem had directed all Regional Police Officers (RPOs), District Police Officers (DPOs) and senior police officers to further strengthen security arrangements at churches. He instructed supervisory officers to personally inspect security measures at churches and other important and sensitive locations. The IGP ordered the deployment of additional police personnel and snipers at sensitive churches, while directing the Dolphin Squad, Police Response Unit (PRU) and Elite Force teams to maintain effective patrolling around places of worship. Abdul Kareem also directed all deployed officers and personnel to remain highly vigilant and maintain strict surveillance on suspicious elements. He instructed police to continue search and sweep operations around churches, Christian localities and other sensitive areas to ensure a peaceful environment. The IGP urged religious scholars, members of the Christian community and Peace Committees to continue promoting interfaith harmony and religious tolerance across the province.
