
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz on Monday said empowering women is essential for national progress, stressing that Islam provides clear guidance on women’s rights. Addressing the 9th OIC Ministerial Conference on Women in Islamabad, she reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to expanding opportunities for women. Her remarks focused on education, digital skills, healthcare, and economic inclusion.
Maryam Nawaz said it was an honour to participate in the ministerial conference. She stated that the Punjab government is working to improve women’s financial inclusion and create greater business opportunities. She added that empowering women benefits not only one segment of society but the nation as a whole.

The chief minister said Islam clearly defines the rights and dignity of women. She highlighted ongoing efforts to equip women with information technology skills to prepare them for the modern economy. She also described education, healthcare, and employment as fundamental rights that every woman should enjoy without discrimination.
Maryam Nawaz said the government is giving special attention to improving healthcare services for women across Punjab. She added that scholarships and laptop distribution programmes are helping female students access better educational opportunities. According to her, these initiatives aim to increase women’s participation in education and the digital economy.

She also called for stronger cooperation to address challenges facing women across the Muslim world. Maryam Nawaz said providing safe and equal opportunities for women remains a key priority of the Government of Pakistan. She urged member states to work together to promote inclusive development and strengthen women’s role in society.
