Pakistan has strongly condemned the ballistic missile attacks launched by Yemen’s Houthi movement against Saudi Arabia, reaffirming its unwavering support for the Kingdom’s security, sovereignty and territorial integrity. The condemnation came during an emergency meeting of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC), where the deteriorating security situation in Yemen and the wider Middle East was discussed.

Speaking at the UNSC session, Pakistan’s Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Usman Jadoon, denounced the missile attacks and stressed that Pakistan stands firmly with Saudi Arabia against threats to its national security. He reiterated Islamabad’s commitment to supporting the Kingdom’s sovereignty and regional stability.
Jadoon also reaffirmed Pakistan’s support for Yemen’s sovereignty, independence, unity and territorial integrity. He urged all parties involved in the conflict to exercise restraint and prioritise dialogue and diplomacy to reduce tensions across the region. According to Pakistan, lasting peace in Yemen can only be achieved through an inclusive political process that addresses the concerns of all stakeholders.
The statement followed reports that Saudi Arabia’s air defence systems successfully intercepted ballistic missiles launched by the Houthis toward the Kingdom’s southern region. According to international media, the missiles were destroyed before reaching their intended targets, preventing casualties or significant damage.
The latest exchange comes after the Houthis accused the Saudi-led coalition of carrying out airstrikes on Sanaa International Airport and warned that such actions would have consequences. The renewed hostilities have raised concerns over the possibility of further escalation in the region, where tensions remain high due to ongoing conflicts and geopolitical rivalries.
