Brad Pitt is reportedly facing another difficult chapter in his family’s ongoing legal and personal disputes after new court filings involving two of his children emerged in California. Reports indicate that Maddox and Zahara have each submitted legal petitions seeking to remove “Pitt” from their surnames, a move that could further widen the family’s long-standing divide.

According to the reported filings published in the Los Angeles Daily Journal, Zahara has requested to legally change her name to Zahara Marley Jolie, while Maddox is seeking the name Maddox Chivan Jolie. However, the court has not yet approved either request, and separate hearings are expected to take place later this year.
A source close to Brad Pitt described the reported legal move as deeply painful and linked it to the family’s prolonged conflict. The source claimed the situation reflected years of strained relationships and alleged that the children had been influenced during the ongoing dispute between their parents.

Meanwhile, Angelina Jolie and her representatives have not publicly commented on the reported petitions. The former couple finalized their divorce in December 2024, ending an eight-year legal battle that began after Jolie filed for divorce in 2016, while their relationship with their six children has continued to attract significant public attention.
If the court approves the petitions, Maddox and Zahara would officially adopt surnames that no longer include “Pitt,” joining other reported instances in which members of the family have publicly identified without using the actor’s surname. Although the legal process is still underway, the latest filings suggest the family’s long-running divisions remain unresolved.
