US President Donald Trump has warned that if Iran does not agree to a deal, the United States will target the country’s power plants and bridges next week. The Trump Threat to Iran has further increased tensions between Washington and Tehran as both sides continue to exchange strong statements.
In a recent interview, Trump said US military operations against Iran would continue until he decides they should stop. He also claimed that US officials held talks with Iran on Tuesday and urged Tehran to reach an agreement.
Trump stated that Iran’s energy infrastructure could become the next target if negotiations fail. He warned that without a deal, the United States would strike Iran’s power plants and bridges during the coming week.
The US president also claimed that Iran’s military capability has been significantly weakened, although he acknowledged that the country still has some ability to respond. He said the United States is continuing to put heavy pressure on Iran.
Trump also reversed his earlier proposal to charge a 20% transit fee in the Strait of Hormuz, saying he no longer supports the idea of collecting tolls there. Instead, he said Gulf countries would invest in the United States rather than pay transit fees. The Trump Threat to Iran has added to growing concerns about stability and security in the Middle East.
