England victory could reunite William and Harry at World Cup

Published on: July 15, 2026 6:29 PM

England’s FIFA World Cup semifinal against Argentina has created excitement beyond football, with growing speculation that a place in the final could bring Prince William and Prince Harry together. As England prepares for its biggest World Cup match in years, royal interest has added another layer of attention to an already historic contest between two football powerhouses.

Prince William, who serves as patron of the Football Association and is well known for his passion for football, has not attended any World Cup matches so far. However, he has indicated that he will travel to support England if the team secures a place in the final, raising expectations of a high-profile royal appearance at the tournament’s biggest stage.

Meanwhile, Prince Harry has publicly backed England during a recent podcast appearance, expressing his hope that the national team lifts the World Cup trophy. England’s long-standing rivalry with Argentina has returned after 24 years, with Harry Kane and Lionel Messi leading their respective sides into a highly anticipated semifinal that carries both sporting and historical significance.

However, no members of the Royal Family are expected to attend the semifinal because authorities remain alert over possible security concerns surrounding one of the tournament’s most intense fixtures. Officials expect a passionate atmosphere as thousands of supporters from both nations gather for a match widely viewed as one of the competition’s toughest encounters.

If England reaches the final, the occasion could extend beyond football by creating an opportunity for Prince William and Prince Harry to publicly support their country at the same event. Such a moment would attract global attention while highlighting national unity, as football continues to inspire millions of supporters both on and off the field.
